I'm playing around with journal styles right now. I know the code for the blue I typically use for backgrounds on my pages, but I'm playing with more blues to see if I can find a good array of colors that don't hurt my eyes.

Did a little trimming of the Flist this weekend, mostly of journals I haven't been reading (oh [livejournal.com profile] henryjenkins, how I will not actually miss you at all) and some LJs I suspect have been abandoned. If you haven't posted in ages but are still lurking and would like to be added back, just drop a quick note here, and please accept my apologies for thinking you'd left.

Did anyone lose a fairy trinket/medallion thingy at my house? One was found in the downstairs bathroom today.

And lo, someone who answered "No" the first time answered "Hey, that's mine" the second. Yay.

Gafiating for a bit. Nothing amiss, just want to get into a better headspace and maybe get some writing done. Also, you know, need to play with the sprogs and stuff. :)

I'll be available via email (mtgat at livejournal dot com works) and telephone. I'll be checking in on a few journals because there are some of you I am v. worried about just now, but I won't be reading my Flist. (If I beta for you, I'm still around for that too. Email me.)

Be good. Back soon.

Since not everyone on my Flist is on [livejournal.com profile] dcfic_index, but many of you write DC-related fanfic anyway, a few quick notes:

1. It's updating again. Yay!
2. Your stories may or may not already be there. Go see.
3. If they're not and you want them to be, please respond to this post and be sure to follow the format provided.
4. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, [livejournal.com profile] dcfic_index is a one-stop shopping spot for all your DC-related fiction needs on LJ. For folks what come to LJ with a yen for some HG/GL (for not even remotely random example), they can go to the memories, look up the tag for that pairing and boom, you've got stories. But it only works if it's updated.

Once again, I am reminded that net time does not scan like real time. Was going by ff.net to check hits on stories (because hey, now that I can, I do so obsessively --- thank you, Xing). I went by the "Batman Beyond" category to see where TSoAaW was in the line-up. It's not an active category, so it's still pretty near the top. I went "Wow, and it's pretty old, too." And then realized I posted it last Monday. It's a week old, and it's ancient.

*smacks side of head a few times to realign brain*

Also, one of many nice things about making biscuits for Sunday dinner? Having biscuits and gravy for breakfast Monday morning. Mmmmmm ...

Today, there will be therapy in the afternoon, and then [livejournal.com profile] mannoftalent and [livejournal.com profile] ladymondegreen in the evening. Yay!

1. "The Mighty Bug 5" (a bumper on Nickolodeon) is the most demented cartoon I've seen that wasn't on Adult Swim.

2. There is a llama on "Go Diego Go!"

3. One of the easiest ways to drive my daughter nuts is to start saying "Llama llama llama llama llama llama." She will shout "No llama!" And I will continue saying "Llama llama llama llama llama," and she'll shout "Stop saying llama!"

LLAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a slightly more private note, I've also started up an LJ for [livejournal.com profile] leatherandlore. I've put up a donations link on the main site, and we're offering discounts for people who donate to the Red Cross's relief effort. I'm going to try to talk Boy into taking a collection jar with him this weekend for the faire and see if we can collect some loose change from patrons, too, since there's going to be a couple thousand people there probably. If anyone has some ideas about how to make it nice (you graphic artists have any thoughts?) I'm all ears.

Also, I know [livejournal.com profile] fandom_charity is on the ball, but what would people think about doing a Write-a-Thon or something? Like Twenty-Four-Hour Comic Book Day, maybe? Other ideas?
mtgat: (Default)
I wasn't going to do this one since I couldn't think of anything.

Ten Things ...  )

Also, I have done one or two things on about half the lists I've seen so far. It should be interesting to see who's done what on mine.

I do it 'cause [livejournal.com profile] shiningmoon did it. (And yeah, bridge? Jumping off? Sure!)

1. Comment and I'll pick a few of your LJ interests and draw you a picture, using the mighty MS Paint.
2. You have no say in what I draw you! Or in how much it will suck! Because suck it will.
3. Put this in your journal along with the pic that is drawn for you.

Strangely, last night I had a dream where [livejournal.com profile] dotsomething was trying to explain to [livejournal.com profile] thete1 that I cannot draw.

See what Shiningmoon drew for me! )
ETA: And see what Astrogirl did! )

So Boy is flipping channels and he stops on an old Chuck Norris movie that was written by someone reading "Standard Movie Plots and How Not to Improve on Them." Chuck plays "Lone Wolf" McQuade, a Texas Ranger with an attitude, and he's assigned a new young partner to try to help him clean up his act.

His bright and chipper young partner is played by Robert Beltran.

And lo, there was cheese.

"Holes"

Note to self: "Holes" is a very weird little movie.

Taking a clue from some others, I'm considering taking an LJ break. My definition: no posting and no reading anyone else's LJ for a currently unspecified period of time, though probably coinciding with the amount of time it takes to get my daughter potty-trained.

So, poll! Any opinions on if, and if so, how long?

[Poll #366822]

Maria Canals is doing a voice on tonight's "Static Shock." There is no hope for me. None.

Watching the "We're So Screwed" story arc from "Farscape." Giggling happily.

More to post later re: the weekend, but first, a quick note. I've just gone through and updated my Friends list a bit. If you're someone I know irl, or have known for a while online, you're still on it. If you're someone I was reading entirely for updates, it's hit and miss.

For the healthy number of folks who've friended me from 5MV, um, hi! *waves* As a general rule, the only posts that are locked are the ones talking about my kids or my personal life. So unless you've got an overwhelming interest in diapers or my period, you're not missing anything. (And for those of you on my Friends List who also care nothing for diapers or my period, I do try to cut tag, so adjust.) The fannish stuff and political stuff stays public.

Not really a friending policy, just a mention in case you were curious.
mtgat: (First OTP)
Okay, these were me:

A Hogswatch Carol, for Starfish. And now I can say a public thank you to [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 for the beta. Sadly, we both missed one little detail, but I think it turned out okay anyway.

From Time to Time, for Alara Rogers. A quick (2k) pinch-hit, based on her second set of requests.

And this is something unrelated I wrote last night: To Protect. I'd seek professional help, but it's more expensive than fanfic.

Just a quick wish for everyone headed to Vividcon this weekend to have fun! Boy and I are going to Faire (imagine that) and getting things done around the house.

*sound of Babygirl (name usurped after Elisabeth became Toddlergirl in July) waking in background*

Okay bye.
